37 years ago today, the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, also known as the Second Bosphorus Bridge was completed over the famous stretch of water that divided Asia and Europe in the Classical Age. The bridge is named after the 15th-century Ottoman Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror, who conquered the Byzantine capital, Constantinople (Istanbul), in 1453.
